Odoo for concrete plants: from the weighbridge to the invoice

In a concrete or building-materials plant, money is made or lost in the details: how much material entered the yard, how many cubic metres went to each site, and whether every trip was invoiced. When these numbers live on paper tickets and separate spreadsheets, disputes with customers and suppliers become part of the daily work.

Where things usually go wrong

• Weighbridge readings are written by hand, or typed again into another system.
• Delivery tickets reach accounting late, so trips are invoiced weeks later, or not at all.
• Prices differ by customer, project and concrete grade, and are managed in spreadsheets.
• There is no clear cost per cubic metre, because raw-material consumption is not linked to production.

One flow, from the scale to the invoice

1. Quotation and project pricing: each customer and project gets its own price list by concrete grade or material, plus extras such as pumping.
2. Sales order and scheduling: orders are scheduled by site and date, with the quantities to deliver.
3. Weighing: the truck scale is connected to the system. The first and second weighings are captured automatically, the net weight is calculated and a weighing ticket is printed, with no manual editing.
4. Delivery: each trip gets a delivery ticket linked to the order, the truck and the driver, and is confirmed at the site.
5. Invoicing: invoices are created from the quantities actually delivered, per trip or per period, and issued as ZATCA-compliant e-invoices.
6. Collections: customer statements and credit limits are always up to date.

Raw materials and the cost per cubic metre

The same weighbridge records incoming materials, such as sand, aggregates and cement, against purchase orders, so supplier quantities are confirmed by weight. By defining the mix of each concrete grade as a bill of materials, Odoo calculates the materials consumed and the cost of every cubic metre sold, and shows the real margin by customer and project.

Fleet and quality

You can also follow trucks, drivers and trips, record pump rentals, and keep quality results, such as compressive-strength tests, linked to the orders and sites they belong to.
